Almarai is the world’s largest dairy company, by vertical integration. Founded in 1977 in Riyadh by Irish brothers, Paddy & Alastair McGuckian and Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer, Almarai is engaged in infant nutrition, bakery and poultry apart from the dairy industry.
In 2009, the company entered into a joint venture with PepsiCo. to launch the International Dairy and Juice Company. The company’s dairy farms have won the ISO 22000 accreditation while all divisions are accredited by ISO 9001-2000.
Almarai is also well known for its community engagement and services. It sponsors the Scholastic Excellence Award for Public Education and also confers a Scientific Creativity Award to encourage research. It is also known to support several other NGOs and trusts for social welfare.
