SABIC is a diversified Saudi Arabian company that specializes in manufacturing. The company operates within a wide range of sectors that include metals, chemicals and intermediates, fertilizers and industrial polymers. It is also the largest public sector company in Saudi Arabia, however, 70% of its shares are still held by the government. The company’s private shareholders are comprised of Saudi Arabians and other members of the six nation GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
SABIC, once held the position of being the fourth largest chemical producer in the world and currently, it holds the position of being the second largest ethylene producer, globally. In 2014, SABIC was also ranked fourth in the Fortune Global 500 list of chemical companies.
